Here's the explanation from LJ:
"There is also a Spam Protection checkbox on the same Settings page that you can use to automatically mark a certain kind of comment as spam. With this checkbox activated, any comment to your journal that contains a link to a non-whitelisted domain will automatically be screened and marked as spam. (The whitelist is maintained by LiveJournal itself; it is not a user-controlled list.) It is also moved to a suspicious comments page. When viewing an individual entry, you will see an 'x suspicious comments' link with the regular commenting links if any comments have been auto-marked as spam by this feature. You can click this link to review these comments at any time. If a comment is not actually spam, you can use the Not Spam button/icon to move it to the main comments page."
The entries I found with the comments, I was able to mark them as Not Spam, and they ought to be viewable now.
I don't know if you as a community member have the ability to mark comments as Not Spam; if you can see the "suspicious comments" link under the entry, feel free to mark as appropriate.
If not, please let us know and we'll see what we can do.
EDIT: found it, and unchecked, so that should take care of it.
